The TRUTH makes Enemies

February 27, 2009

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?  Galatians 4:16

There is a certainty about truth that many who claim to love it do not like.  And that is that the TRUTH makes enemies.  In the age of tolerance we live in (which also affects Christianity and independent Baptists), making enemies is about the worst sin a person can commit.  Now, I’m not here promoting the making of enemies.  The Word says that when a man’s ways please God, even his enemies will be at peace with him.  But the Word also states that some who are told the truth will esteem the truth-tellers to be enemies.  From this I gather that love of truth must come before love of friendship or fellowship.  If we love the truth and speak it in love, and those who hear it count us as enemies, we must love truth more than friends.  In this verse, Paul continues to speak to and try to help those who counted him as an enemy.  But he did not change his message or water it down.  He did not leave some truth out that was not important or not essential.  Because all TRUTH is important and essential.

So love the truth; love people; and don’t be afraid to make some enemies.

That’s why Jude says we must “Contend” for the faith. That word contend is another word for agonize. Jude writes in his epistle about living in an apostate world where people take the Truth of God’s Word and twist it into lies to support their wicked lifestyles. Fact is, if we are going to stand for Truth, there is going to have to be some agonizing and contending…so there must be enemies.

Faith, Hope and Charity. Which does God say is greatest? Truth?

In answer to your question: The Bible says that the greatest of these (faith, hope, charity) is charity. Since the Bible is not a book of sound bytes, one must look at the context to understand the meaning. Faith will give way to sight. Hope will come to fruition. Charity will never end throughout eternity. Charity is the greatest in duration.

You would not know of charity Biblically without the Word of God (thy Word is truth). We are commanded by Scripture to contend for the truth and the faith. We are to keep and obey every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. That Word demands charity. So, we should keep that and obey that. We do not need to look at charity and truth as being at odds. That would be un-Biblical.

Hopefully my few words have given you some food for thought.

Truth is a wonderful thing, it takes no sides, never discriminates, it stands by itself, truth always prevails despite oposition,
its for us when we’re right and against us when wrong ,
it is unshakeable ,unmoveable, and always there to guide us,
truths oposition seems overwhelming, but when the dust is settled, and the smoke has cleared
and the lies and oposition are brought to light it will be seen for what it is.
    LOVE IT !!
    live it!!!!
    IT IS THE TRUTH !!!!!
